University of Maine men’s hockey player Nicholas Payson was charged with operating under the influence and has been suspended indefinitely for the second time in two years.
Dianne Hoff, professor in the College of Education and Human Development and president of Faculty Senate, will leave the University of Maine before July 2009 to take an associate dean’s position at the University of West Georgia.

A fire destroyed a historic apartment building in downtown Orono Tuesday.A large apartment fire in Orono left 26 people, including 12 University of Maine students, homeless on Tuesday. The apartment contained a total of 18 units and was located in the middle of downtown Orono at the intersection of Bennoch Road and Main Street.
